Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how ZOO Applications ("we", "us") handles information in the Ninja โ App Blocker & Screen Time Android app ("Ninja", "the app"). It applies to everyone who uses the app. By using Ninja, you can understand the choices we make with your information as described below.
What we handle
Phone usage information On device
To block apps and show you your screen-time stats, Ninja reads which apps run and for how long, using Android's usage-access permission you grant during setup. This includes app usage durations, the times of day you use apps, and how often Ninja stepped in on a limit. This information is processed on your device to power the blocking engine, your daily/weekly stats, and your app limits. It is stored locally on your phone.
Your settings and activity On device
Your app limits, limit modes, grace periods, onboarding progress, theme, language, and similar preferences are stored locally on your device so the app works the way you set it up.
Usage & interaction analytics Shared
To understand how Ninja is used and to improve it, we send analytics data to our analytics provider, Mixpanel, associated with a random identifier we generate for your install (see "Your identifier" below). This can include:
- Your country (not precise location)
- Which apps you use and for how long (whether or not they are limited)
- Which apps you set limits on, and the limit modes you choose
- How often limits are reached or exceeded
- Your subscription/premium status
- Screens you view, taps, and the times you use the app
- Ad and A/B-test related events
We use this to analyze behavior in aggregate and make the product better. We do not sell this data or use it to advertise other companies' products to you.
Purchases & subscriptions Shared
Subscriptions and purchases are handled through Google Play and our billing provider, RevenueCat, which processes purchase and subscription-status information tied to your random identifier so we can unlock premium features and restore them across reinstalls. Your actual payment details are handled by Google Play, not by us.
Ads Shared
Ninja shows ads through Google AdMob to support the free version. AdMob may collect and use a device advertising identifier and related information to serve and measure ads. Where required (for example, for users in the EEA/UK), you'll be shown a consent choice before personalized ads are used, and Google processes ad data according to how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Premium subscribers do not see ads.
Crash & configuration Shared
We use Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Remote Config) to keep the app stable and to roll out settings. Firebase may automatically collect diagnostic and device information โ such as crash reports, device model, operating-system version, an app-instance identifier, and coarse location inferred from IP address โ to provide these services.
Your identifier Shared
On first launch, Ninja generates a random identifier (a UUID) and stores it on your device. We use it as a single, consistent key across our analytics and billing providers. It is not your name or email, and it is not a device or advertising identifier. If you uninstall and reinstall, a new random identifier is generated.
Why we use it
- To run the app โ blocking, limits, and your stats are powered by on-device processing of usage information.
- To improve the app โ we analyze usage and interaction data to understand what works and make Ninja better. For users in the EEA/UK, our legal basis for this analytics is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving our product.
- To provide premium features โ purchase and subscription information is used to unlock and restore premium.
- To show ads โ in the free version, handled by Google AdMob, with a consent choice where required.
- To keep the app stable โ crash and diagnostic data help us find and fix problems.
Your choices
Depending on where you live (including under the EU/UK GDPR), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the information associated with your random identifier, and to object to certain processing.
Requesting deletion or access
Because your data is tied to a random identifier rather than your name, we need that identifier (or the details of your request) to act on it. To request access to, or deletion of, the analytics data associated with your install, email us at zoo.applications@gmail.com and we will action your request, including removing the associated data from our analytics provider.
Ads & consent
Where a consent choice is shown for personalized ads, you can decline. You can also reset or limit your advertising identifier in your device's system settings.
The details
Sharing. We share information only with the service providers named above (Mixpanel, RevenueCat, Google AdMob, Google Firebase, Google Play) so they can perform their functions for us. We do not sell your personal information.
Retention. On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app. Analytics and billing data are kept by our providers for as long as needed for the purposes described here, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
International transfers. Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States.
Children. Ninja is not directed to children under the age required by your country's law, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes. We may update this policy as the app evolves. When we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
